Does God speak your language? There are thousands of languages in the world, countless words people can use to communicate. Some people know only one, some know many. But even inside those individual languages, we have so many ways to communicate. I believe God’s love and his power are so great that he speaks to us in every language, in every way. And I believe these languages are not just jumbled in the world, but are carefully, precisely targeted to reach the people who speak them.
As an example, I am an aspiring author. I connect very well to stories and deeper meanings. Some of my favorite youtubers are the ones who analyze meanings in movies, games, and other media. I love to discuss theories and parallels. When I make new connections in my own writing, it fills me with a sense of immeasurable joy. God spoke to me recently through a parallel in the bible. I was watching a video of Ravi Zacharias where he recounted an old meeting he had. He spoke of how under God’s instruction, Abraham walked up the mountain and prepared to sacrifice his son. Yet God stopped him, and said “I will provide”. 2000 years ago, God did, by taking his own son up the hill of Calvary. But this time, the sacrifice of the son was completed. It’s such a simple parallel, God sending his son where we and our children deserve to go, while insisting we and our children are not to be touched. To some, that may be an amusing coincidence, but to me it’s more. This parallel, delivered by a loving, God-fearing man, came to me as I sat and prayed, asking God to bring my heart closer to his. God, the great Author of the universe, spoke to me Author to author, Father to child. He knows me intimately and deeply.
I believe he knows you that way too. Open your heart to the language that flows through it, and listen as God speaks. He knows your language, and he’s had it ready for you to hear since long before you were born.
